So, there will be some roster competition this year with rookies or backup players who could give starters some competition over time.

Dunn gets pressure from Fleming. Fleming is a rookie and a second rounder at that and Dunn is such a premier defender. But word out of training camp is that Fleming is a really tough, hard nosed defender too. He also has the offensive game that Dunn does not.

Williams gets pressure from Maluach. To be honest, both are raw players. Mark has the highest standing reach in the league, Maluach is second. If Williams can't stay healthy Man Man will be there to take up the minutes.

Gillespie vs Goodwin for backup guard minutes.

Oso vs Richard's for backup pf/c minutes.

This is interesting. Goodwin already beat out Butler for a roster spot.

I see Dunn more of a SF with Flemming more the PF but I like the potential of both out there together a lot.

I think they are pretty even actually.

But cutting Butler was a really stupid decision. DUMB.

Who the hell are we going to fill that open roster spot with that is better?
word he's about to have his best year ever

I don't think so. We already have 6 guards on our roster. Need flexibility for another big.

Offensively, maybe. Goodwin is the better defender, has more size and fits in better for our new culture.
i think they're both role players but butler's about to get better - i like goodwin and defense too tho so no biggie

the thing is I like Gillespie. He’s worked hard to get here. But Goodwin is seasoned. And Butler showed up when he had to. Gillespie as a player has struggled when given chances. Butler despite my criticism of his selfish play, is the better player.

But yes I’m not sure why some want Richard’s moved with Williams injury history and Maluach needing a lot of development.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Gillespie versus Butler but I'm with you on wanting to keep Richards due to Williams injury history, Oso's limits, and Man Man's rawness.

All Collin Gillespie needs is an opportunity to consistently start. He has some John Stockton and Mark Price in him.

I like Collin but he's more TJ McConnell than Price or Stockton at this point. Hopefully he proves his worth next year.

I have no problem with the TJ McConnell comparison.

Bottom line, teams don't know how good he can be unless he were given a consistent starter role.

Booker, Green, Allen, Gillespie, Goodwin - who is the 6th?

You are supposed to have 6 guards on a 15 man roster.

3 for each position. Our problem is we have 4 centers right now - that is the imbalance.

He kind of looks like them, he kind of shoots like them - but he is 1/10th the passer, and not nearly as good of a ball handler.

He is in his 3rd or 4th year, as a fringe NBA player. Mark Price and Stockton were like all-stars at that point. Let's stop exaggerating.

I don't see the McConnell comparison at all other than they are both white.

McConnell drives hard to the rim and shoots midranges. Gillespie hardly ever drives and mainly shoots 3's. They are closer to exact opposites then anything.

Funny that you see that as a "problem."

Considering some players can play multiple positions, I'm not sure a team having 3 X 5 depth necessarily applies. It sounds good on paper, though.

IMO, talent combined with need matters more when looking at the 15th spot.
