The Atlanta Braves shook up their outfield situation again on Monday, announcing the signing of Eddie Rosario to a major league contract — and sending Jarred Kelenic down to Triple-A Gwinnett in the process.

The #Braves today reported RHP Ian Anderson to Atlanta after optioning RHP Davis Daniel to Triple-A Gwinnett following yesterday’s game. The club today also signed OF Eddie Rosario to a major league contract, and optioned OF Jarred Kelenic to the Stripers. To make room on the…

The move immediately sparked a wave of fan reaction, and it wasn’t all pretty.

Many agreed that Kelenic hadn’t exactly earned his roster spot lately. His recent lack of hustle — most notably getting tagged out at second base after admiring a deep fly ball too long — didn’t go unnoticed. Braves manager Brian Snitker deflected questions about whether he addressed it with Kelenic, but Ronald Acuña Jr. wasn’t so shy. Acuña posted on social media that “If it were me, they would take me out of the game,” drawing attention to a perceived double standard.

Still, as much as fans acknowledged Kelenic’s struggles, they were baffled by the solution: bringing back Rosario, a player many thought the team had moved on from for good. “I was excited to finally get rid of Rosario and now they bring him back? Why, why, why?” one frustrated fan wrote.

Others tried to stay more optimistic. With Acuña Jr.’s return expected in a few weeks, Rosario is viewed by some as a mere placeholder — insurance on the bench while Eli White and Alex Verdugo handle left field duties. In that light, optioning Kelenic makes a little more sense.

Rather than let him rot on the major league bench, the Braves are giving him everyday starts at Gwinnett, hoping he regains his form — or becomes a trade chip later this summer.

“Hopefully it gives Kelenic some playing time and maybe someone will have a need for a lefty outfielder by the trade deadline,” another fan suggested.

At the end of the day, the belief in Jarred Kelenic’s talent hasn’t disappeared. Setback after setback, whether in Seattle or Atlanta, fans continue to see a player capable of something more. “He will overcome every obstacle they put in front of him,” one supporter said. “Pure talent will always prevail.”

For now, though, the Braves are banking on experience over potential — and hoping it doesn’t cost them later.
