Speculation has swirled ever since Rome Odunze made comments about his “new normal” following a foot injury that slowed him for much of the 2025 season.

Odunze set the record straight on Thursday. “I know ‘new normal,’ that has a bunch of connotations of like chronic and severe, like never going to be the same. It’s not like that at all. Like, I’m completely fine.”

This is welcome news for a Chicago Bears team looking for Rome Odunze to take another step in his third season, following DJ Moore’s departure to Buffalo.

Wednesday marked the start of the Bears’ training camp, and videos surfaced of Odunze participating at full speed, with many noting that he looks much quicker than he did at any point during the 2025 season.

Romes “new normal” was looking solid today.

Press Taylor noted, “He looks like he’s moving around really well. I think if he hadn’t said anything, I don’t know that you necessarily would have noticed through the spring the way he was moving, because he looks like he’s moving really well. We’re excited to see what Rome does through this training camp.”

Enthusiasm is only growing in Bears camp as Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, Odunze, and a talented offensive core look to build upon their offensive success in 2025. That enthusiasm isn’t going to be dampened by this update from Odunze, especially when noting, “I feel amazing.”

Rome Odunze clarifies his “new normal” comment.

Rome says his foot feels great and he probably didn’t articulate his thoughts well with that comment. Said he doesn’t even think about his foot anymore.
