Geraldo Perdomo is out of the lineup for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Aug. 11, but manager Torey Lovullo said he expects his shortstop to return to action on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Perdomo exited the game on Monday, Aug. 10, after four innings with left knee soreness. Lovullo said he was debating whether to ask Perdomo to play on Tuesday and then give him Wednesday off plus the off day Thursday, but ultimately decided to go a different direction.

“We felt like today and Thursday would be our targets for the days off and drop in one day in the middle of those days and see how he feels,” Lovullo said. “That’s my anticipation. I like back-to-back off days, sometimes I structure it that way. But he’s such an important member of this team I wanted to make sure he was healthy and good to go tomorrow.”

Perdomo felt discomfort in his knee running to first base in the series finale against the Dodgers on Sunday, Aug. 9.

In other health updates, right-hander Justin Martinez threw a scoreless inning, striking out two, for Triple-A Reno on Aug. 11. He topped out at 102.4 mph in what was an 11-pitch inning. Martinez, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, will pitch again for Reno on Thursday, Aug. 13.

Meanwhile, right-handers Corbin Burnes (shoulder) and Zac Gallen (elbow) each threw bullpen sessions around 30 pitches. Both will throw bullpens again on Saturday, Aug. 15, Lovullo said.

Outfielders Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) and Tommy Troy (shoulder) each played in a bridge league game on Aug. 11, getting four at-bats apiece.
