For Hunter Goodman, his first-half numbers and play in the 2026 MLB season earned him a spot on the National League All-Star Team as a reserve.
The National League and American League All-Star starters and reserves were announced on Saturday night on Fox. The MLB All-Star Game will be played on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Goodman has his second All-Star selection in his MLB career. And, it's the second straight one for the Rockies' catcher, too.
Entering Saturday night's game at Coors Field against the San Francisco Giants, Goodman has a slash line of .246/.308/.858 with 27 home runs and 50 RBIs. In addition to those numbers, Goodman has 14 doubles, scored 56 runs, and also has five stolen bases.
With Goodman having a great season, he's been one of the catalysts to getting the Rockies in a position to potentially reach fourth place in the National League West Division. Colorado is currently eight games behind the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks for a NL Wild Card spot.
He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 MLB Draft by Colorado. Goodman played his college baseball at Memphis. He made his MLB debut for the Rockies back on Aug. 27, 2023.
What about his career regular season numbers? Goodman has a career slash line of .248/.297/.798. He has 72 career home runs and 194 career RBIs.
Goodman has been on a tear in his last seven games, too. He's hitting .310 with six home runs and 11 RBIs. In his last two games between the Miami Marlins and Giants, Goodman has gone 3-for-8 with one home run and two RBIs.
As for the NL starters, four Los Angeles Dodgers players -- first baseman Freddie Freeman, third baseman Max Muncy, outfielder Andy Pages, and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani -- will be in the starting lineup.
Other NL players in the All-Star opening lineup include Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin and second baseman Ozzie Albies, Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh, and New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto -- will be there, too.
All of these players were elected as starters. On the NL pitching staff, Braves starting pitcher Chris Sale leads them with his 10th All-Star selection. The Phillies' Jhoan Duran, the Braves' Raisel Iglesias, Marlins starter Max Meyer, and Diamondbacks starter Eduardo Rodriguez are making their first All-Star appearance.
And, for those wondering, Milwaukee Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski will be making his second All-Star Game appearance, too.
But Rockies fans will be watching closely to see if Goodman can provide the NL team with some of his potent offense when he's at the plate hitting.
