Colorado Rockies fans were not disappointed on Tuesday night as Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman saw time behind the plate for the National League in the MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Not only was Goodman catching, but he also got a turn at the plate, too, as hitter. Yet Goodman ended up going 0-for-1 in his time taking some swings.

There was plenty of criticism aimed at MLB over Goodman not making the NL All-Star team as a starter. That role went to Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin. After Baldwin left, Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras came in for some time.

Goodman caught Dodgers' Wrobleski

Finally, Goodman came on and was behind the plate when Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Justin Wrobleski was on the mound.

That pairing, while working pretty well, couldn't keep Chicago White Sox slugger Miguel Vargas from hitting a tape-measure home run over the left-field wall. That ball might be still coming down as Vargas had time to admire his dinger before running around the bases.

Vargas' home run extended the American League's lead over the NL to 4-0. The MLB All-Star Game ended with that score. NL hitters only got three total hits off of AL pitchers, despite some sluggers like Philadelphia Phillies stars Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper in the lineup.

For Goodman, though, he got an opportunity to play and represent the Rockies' organization. He was the lone representative from Colorado, but it was a nice touch from NL and Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to give Goodman some time catching other NL pitchers.

MLB All-Star Game lets players share their talents

An All-Star Game is a place where baseball's best players have a chance to show viewers across the United States and around the world what they can do.

Fox Sports carried the game with Joe Davis and John Smoltz behind the microphones. Some players wore microphones during the game, including Schwarber, Harper, and Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Goodman entered the All-Star break with 27 home runs this season, which puts him among NL leaders in that category. When the second half picks up for Colorado on Friday night at Coors Field, Goodman will pick up where he left off. Hopefully, he can reach 30 home runs this season pretty soon.

Good job, Hunter, in representing the Rockies on a big baseball stage.
