Rob Thomson might've just revealed Phillies' Opening Day lineup originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Philadelphia Phillies are, for the most part, running it back with their batting order for the 2026 MLB season.
Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Kyle Schwarber are the core of the offense, and it would be a major surprise if those three didn't factor into the top three of the lineup at all times this upcoming season. Their lineup this year will be a major point of contention for fans.
And according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, Phillies manager Rob Thomson might've just revealed that the team's Opening Day lineup is going to look like against right-handed Texas Rangers pitcher Nate Eovaldi.
Rob Thomson hints at Opening Day lineup
"Rob Thomson said this 'probably is' his Opening Day lineup with Kyle Schwarber hitting second and Bryce Harper hitting third," Zolecki reports.
"We had a lot of success with it last year," Thomson said. "That could switch, too. It's just one game right now. We'll take it game by game. We're open to making some moves."
The lineup that Thomson and Zolecki are referring to was the Phillies final spring training lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays. That lineup looked like this:
1. Trea Turner, Shortstop
2. Kyle Schwarber, Designated Hitter
3. Bryce Harper, First Base
4. Alec Bohm, Third Base
5. Bryson Stott, Second Base
6. Adolis Garcia, Right Field
7. Brandon Marsh, Left Field
8. J.T. Realmuto, Catcher
9. Justin Crawford, Center Field
This lineup looks similar to last-year's 1-2-3-4, but with Stott hitting fifth against a right-handed pitcher, and Realmuto all of the way down at eighth, this lineup definitely is a bit different from last year's lineup.
With a righty in Eovaldi on the mound against the Phillies on Opening Day, it's no surprise that Stott and Marsh, left-handed hitters, are in the lineup.

But, for the third game of the year, against lefty MacKenzie Gore, Stott and especially Marsh could come out of the lineup, with right-handed hitters Otto Kemp taking over in left field and Edmundo Sosa at second base.
The order against a lefty might also boost Garcia up to the cleanup spot, or at least to the fifth slot behind Bohm.
This order isn't confirmed to be what the Phillies will use against right-handed pitching all season, but Thomson indicated that this will likely be the Opening Day lineup.
Opening Day is only a few days away, on Thursday, March 26th, against the Rangers at 4:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
