Rob Parker still doesn’t view Red Sox as a playoff team: ‘Save this tape’ appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Red Sox are one of the hottest teams in MLB. They’ve won 26 of their last 29 games after pulling off an amazing 12-11 win over the Chicago White Sox in extra innings on Thursday. Additionally, the front office made some key additions before the trade deadline, acquiring premier catcher Adley Rutschman. All signs point to a playoff appearance for the franchise this year.
But with everything going right, MLB analyst Rob Parker is still not convinced. While he does not think the Red Sox can win the World Series, he went as far as to declare that Boston isn’t even a playoff contender. Parker admits he’s impressed with the hot streak, but he does not believe these winning ways are sustainable.
“I respect the winning, I just don’t think they can keep it up,” Parker said on MLB Now. “It’s impossible in baseball. They’ve done all of this to climb out of a hole. They’re in the mix now. One bad week can send this thing going the other way. They can’t keep winning at this clip…

“I’m gonna stick with my notion that [the Red Sox] do not make the playoffs,” Parker continued. “That they’ve had this incredible run, and over [these next] six weeks they have some bumps, they come back to earth, and they do not, N-O-T, make the playoffs. And save this tape!”

Rob Parker is seemingly convinced Boston will completely collapse in the final two months of the regular season. While it’s hard to fathom the Red Sox falling off that hard, a spot in the playoffs certainly is not a lock. Not yet, at least.
Despite owning the third-best record in the National League, the franchise is right in line for a Wild Card spot. The good news is that the Red Sox are sitting somewhat comfortably for the Wild Card. They are just 0.5 games behind the fourth-placed New York Yankees, and are just 5.0 games behind the first-placed Tampa Bay Rays. Additionally, Boston is 6.5 games ahead of the rest of the pack.
So, if a losing streak does occur, the club has a little buffer. But based on how hot the Red Sox are this late in the season, is there anyone other than Rob Parker who doesn’t think this year’s Boston team is a playoff contender?
