2027 ODI World Cup qualification: Rules and how teams can qualify?

A total of 14 teams, instead of 10 in the last two editions of the World Cup, will participate in the 2027 ODI World Cup.

South Africa and Zimbabwe have automatically qualified for the 2027 ODI World Cup as co-hosts. Other than the two host nations, the top eight teams in the ICC men's ODI team rankings on September 30, 2026, will directly progress to the final competition.

The remaining four spots will be filled from the ODI World Cup Qualifier, taking place in summer 2027, where the next two teams in the ICC men's ODI rankings will go up against the top four from Cricket World Cup League Two and the top four teams from the Qualifier Play-Off.
