It was a magical, memorable and special senior season for Eau Claire Regis boys basketball standout Blake Risler.
He helped the Ramblers win conference, regional and sectional titles before leading Regis to its first state tournament trip in 11 years.
Risler, who excelled as an elite shooting guard, was named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association all-state team in Division 4.
The 6-foot-4 senior was among the state’s leading scorers. He averaged 27.4 points per game while connecting on 44 percent of his three-point attempts and 79 percent of his free throws this season.
Risler scored 24 points in the state semifinal setback to eventual champion Milwaukee Juneau last Thursday night in Madison.
Risler was joined on the D4 all-state team by Fall Creek’s Miles Schmidgall.
The 6-foot-7 junior forward led the Crickets to a 22-4 record and a share of the Cloverbelt West Conference title.
Schmidgall averaged 15.3 points per game. He also was one of the state’s top rebounders, grabbing 12 boards per contest.
Altoona junior guard Graysen Becker earned all-state honors in Division 3.
Becker had an outstanding season for the Railroaders as one of the best playmakers and scoring guards in Wisconsin.
Becker, a versatile 6-2 guard, averaged 25.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game this season.
He was the co-Player of the Year in the Middle Border Conference.
Becker shot 43.9 percent from 3-point range and 77.6 percent from the free throw line.
Regis sophomore point guard D.J. Cooper earned honorable mention all-state honors in Division 4.
Cooper had a superb season. He averaged 18.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5 assists per game for the Ramblers.
Cooper collected 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the state semifinal game.
Stanley-Boyd junior Charlie Hoel was named honorable mention all-state in Division 3.
Hoel averaged 20.7 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Orioles.
