The Pittsburgh Steelers all but walked out of the first week of 2026 NFL free agency as winners, acquiring talented players on both sides of the ball. And it's clear their newest running back has a few choice feelings about his former team he left behind.

After signing a two-year deal with Pittsburgh earlier in the week, running back Rico Dowdle took a few subtle jabs at his former Carolina Panthers, beginning by claiming he had the 2026 matchup against his ex-squad circled on his calendar. After a few Panthers fans criticized his play last season over his comments, Dowdle clapped back in savage fashion.

"Gets hard when you same thing 75/100 times," Dowdle wrote about the Panthers play calling in a now-deleted tweet.

When a fan questioned if Dowdle had an attitude problem, the new Steelers running back chose to once again address the callout on social media.

"Never in the my life!" Dowdle wrote via X.

Dowdle, who has recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons with two different teams from 2024-2025, will look to make the Panthers regret letting him leave in free agency, forming one of the league's best running back duos opposite Jaylen Warren.
