St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino is fresh off a 31-5 campaign that delivered the program’s first outright Big East regular-season and tournament titles in over three decades.
On Wednesday, he received another player to help him go on a deep run in 2025-26: four-star recruit Kelvin Odih.
He initially pledged to West Virginia in November 2024 before reopening his recruitment in March.
Shortly after the news broke, Pitino posted on X to publicly welcome Odih to his roster.
In the post, Pitino said, "Great to have another talented freshman join the strong nucleus of veterans. Welcome to the family Kelvin!"
Odih, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound athletic guard from Southern California Academy, chose the Red Storm over programs like LSU, Rutgers, Marquette, Creighton and Iowa, among others.
He enters Queens as a consensus four-star prospect ranked No. 64 nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings.
As for St. John's, they're coming off a year in which Pitino, in just his second season, guided the program to a No. 2 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.

The Red Storm swept the Big East regular season with an 18-2 league mark, their first outright title since 1992, and captured the conference tournament crown for the first time since 2000.
His efforts earned him Big East Coach of the Year and AP Coach of the Year honors in 2025, marking the first time the Hall of Fame coach has won the national award.
Despite an upset in the Round of 32 by Arkansas, St. John’s is laying a foundation for sustained success.
