For analysts out there who have something negative to say about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, you better be ready to deal with Ric Flair.

ESPN’s Michael Wilbon is finding that out first hand after he made some negative comments about Rodgers recently on First Take that drew a reaction from the WWE legend.

First, Wilbon called Rodgers “irrelevant” at this stage of his career and even slammed his own network for the amount of coverage it has given the future Hall of Famer.

“I’m blaming this network, cause every time I turn on all of our shows, except one, I hear about Aaron damn Rodgers,” Wilbon said. “I’m criticizing us… he’s irrelevant.”

Then, Wilbon went on to say that Rodgers “in no way measured up physically to the talent John Elway had.”

After catching wind of Wilbon’s comments, Flair went nuclear on Wilbon, calling him an “idiot.”

“I Am Currently Sitting With Two Doctors – One A Pulmonary Doctor And Another One, A Surgeon. We Are Watching [Michael Wilbon] Crack On Aaron Rodgers,” Flair said. “I Don’t Know Why Anyone Would Call Him The Godfather. You Remind Me Of Paul Finebaum – Another Expert Idiot Who Has Never Worn A Jock Strap In Their Life.

“I Hope Aaron Rodgers Passes For 4,000 Yards And Throws 30 Touchdowns, And Then He Calls You Up On The Phone And Says ***!”

WWE Ric Flair introduces Darius Rucker during the Music City Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023.

Rodgers and Flair first met in 2020, with Rodgers sharing the story on The Pat McAfee Show.

They must’ve hit it off because this isn’t the first time Flair has defended Rodgers publicly.

Last September, Flair took to X to praise Rodgers after beating the New York Jets in Week 1 and silencing his critics.

It doesn’t appear Rodgers and Flair have any kind of a close relationship, as Flair called Rodgers “my acquaintance” in the aforementioned post.

But it is clear Flair has the utmost respect for Rodgers, who like Flair is still going in his profession well after players are expected to retire.

The 2026 campaign is expected to be Rodgers’ last in the NFL.

We know that because Rodgers himself said he would be done after this coming season during Steelers OTAs this week.

“Yes. This is it,” Rodgers said when asked if he was done after 2026.

We’ll take Rodgers at his word for now, but he would not be the first professional athlete to change their mind.

In terms of Rodgers’ and the Steelers’ 2026 outlook is concerned, not much is expected.

The Steelers are mostly running it back with a similar team to the one that went 10-7 and was bounced from the first round of the playoffs in 2025.

Sure, Mike Tomlin is gone, but Pittsburgh made what many fans consider an uninspiring hire by bringing in Rodgers’ former Green Bay Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy.

If there’s any reason for optimism for Rodgers, it’s the fact that he has a new No. 2 receiver in Michael Pittman Jr., who could help elevate the offense.

If Rodgers and the Steelers’ offense can play better in 2026, there’s at least a chance for the team to take a step forward and finally get the playoff win that has eluded the franchise for 10 years.
