Revanche is a 2008 Austrian thriller written and directed by Götz Spielmann. It centers on the ill-fated love story between a Viennese ex-con and a Ukrainian prostitute who get involved in a bank robbery.

The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2008. It received critical acclaim and won a number of awards, and was nominated for the 2009 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Such a good movie. One of the few films where the audience has NO idea in what direction the film is going to go. It takes off in directions that are completely unexpected, but not preposterous. Really outstanding.

Completely agree. I got so wrapped up in the grief/redemption/revenge etc that I had no idea how this would turn out.
