fWIW Mel Kiper has him ahead of Bain but behind Reese IIRC. Reese is a 1 year wonder, he's athletic for sure but it's mainly his projected 40 time that has him so high. Bailey is faster than Bain but not as fast as Reese.
Not worried about bains timed speed….Campbell ran a 4.8 …Simmons ran like a deer….need to know about their ins instincts….motor…bend….calf muscles..

Oh me neither I'm just saying Bain isn't one who's going to blow people away at the combine. he's strong but I doubt he's going to have wow 40 times or wow vertical jumps. part if the issue with Bain IMO is he was close to NFL ready as a freshman so there's this perception he hasn't improved but the Miami people say he has improved dramatically.

TOSU could not run their offense in the first half against Miami largely because of bain

Expect several mocks to predict Cards take Arvell Reese instead of Bain.

I haven’t watched a lot of OSU but just in highlights reels I have not seen a lot to get excited about if Reese is the 3rd pick. I could be (and if you ask my wife I probably am) wrong.

Apparently we're going to be hearing about Bain having tiny arms come the combine. Sub 31 inch arms is the rumor. As of now he's being mocked top 5 a lot, especially after dominating Ohio State, but measurements sticklers aren't going to like him.

I kinda think Monti is a measurements guy....

Bain sure does remind me of Will Anderson. I still say passing on him with that pick & taking PJJ was montis biggest mistake
Certainly a valid BPA concern. Nonetheless lots of factors enter into a pick. In this case I’m fairly certain the Cards’ priority was to protect Murray. The feeing was if the QB play couldn’t be improved, the team was going nowhere.

When was the last time we had an LB who was a game changer? Dansby?

Who does Arvell compare to?
Reese is actually similar to Sweat. Reeses’ strengths are mostly in controlling the run and rushing the passer. He is fairly weak in defending the pass.

I like Bain, but the concern is somewhat valid. If you look at Bain’s season, his weakest performance was against defenders he couldn’t manhandle. The issue is there are a lot more of those defenders in the NFL. Bain is one of the strongest rushers ever, but will that be enough? He’s quick and agile, but can he develop enough technique to overcome his shortcomings. I like his chances. I’d feel more confident if Nolen would be there, but he’s likely out for most of the season. The thought is, especially if Campbell leaves, that they’d move Bain inside at least temporarily. I think Bain can be an impact player, but I’d be more confident if I believed in the coaching.

One sharp guy I talk with often says Reese has not been the same since Patricia started working with him. He says Reese has changed dramatically and likely has significantly more upside.

Isaiah Simmons
That's not a good comp. Sonny Styles is a good comp for Simmons. Reese is bigger and when he hits people they move. He definitely slowed down as the year progressed but was an absolute terror in the 1st half of year. I don't think Reese is the pure pass rusher you'd take at 3. He can rush the passer but that's not his specialty. Someone mentioned Travon Walker, that's a pretty good comp.

Let's not get cute at #3, we can get the best defensive player in the draft.
I want to draft someone who is dominate at their college position and not someone who is projected to be good at a different one (see Reddick and Simmons).

the best defensive player in the draft is Caleb Downs. Nobody wants him at 3, other than Monti .

David Bailey is the best pass rusher in this class. Just understand that right now. Bain is better vs the run despite less TFLs and Reese is the "upside" and "versatile" guy.
