The calling card of the Minnesota Vikings in 2025 was their defense, which would finish the year third in total defense. The Vikings got standout play at all three levels, and one of their best performers was defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. However, in what is likely an effort to get under the salary cap, the franchise could be shopping around the former two-time Pro Bowler.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Vikings are taking calls on Hargrave this week during the NFL Combine. While from a cap perspective, getting off his $21.5 million annual salary would free up roughly $15 million in cap space if he were to be traded. The only struggle Minnesota may run into is that there is not likely to be a ton of teams calling on a soon-to-be 33-year-old defensive tackle.

A trade involving Javon Hargrave takes us behind the curtain just a little into what the Minnesota Vikings' draft night plans might be in round one. With defensive tackles like Caleb Banks (Florida), Lee Hunter (Texas Tech), or Peter Woods (Clemson) expected to be there, the Vikings could look to draft his replacement early. Any three of these guys could see the field early for this Brian Flores-led defense, and could have an impact in year one. But losing a player with the pedigree of Hargrave would be a blow to that unit.
