The Philadelphia 76ers will return from the All-Star break on Thursday when they take on the Atlanta Hawks, but they will feature a new guard on their roster for coach Nick Nurse to turn to.
The guard is a familiar one as the Sixers will reportedly bring back Cam Payne on a deal for the rest of the season. Philadelphia acquired Payne from the Milwaukee Bucks at the 2024 deadline and he averaged 9.3 points and 3.1 assists while shooting 38.2% from deep in 31 games for the Sixers before then leaving for the New York Knicks in free agency.
The Sixers needed another guard behind Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe after the deadline trade of Jared McCain to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Philadelphia had to turn to other options in the final two games before the All-Star break with Quentin Grimes sidelined with an illness so this addition of Payne is a helpful one.
Payne averaged 5.6 points and shot 44.4% from deep in the 2024 playoffs for the Sixers as well as then helping the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals in 2025.

Cam Payne is signing a rest-of-the-season deal to join the 76ers, league sources say.
It has been reported in Europe that the veteran guard is securing a buyout from Partizan Belgrade in Serbia to come back to the NBA.
