The Carolina Panthers want to run it back with another one of their own free agents.
According to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Panthers and defender Isaiah Simmons have reached an agreement on a return. The linebacker-turned-safety appeared in six games for Carolina during the 2025 campaign.
A Clemson University standout, Simmons was initially linked to the Panthers ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft. But Carolina, with the seventh overall pick that spring, passed up on the unanimous All-American to select defensive lineman (and future Pro Bowler) Derrick Brown. (Simmons was taken one spot later by the Arizona Cardinals.)
They'd then sign Simmons in late November of this past year. His signature moment came in the team's wild-card round game against the Los Angeles Rams, when he blocked a punt to set up a go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
