For the last several years, the Golden State Warriors appeared to be linked to Milwaukee Bucks' two-time Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo. Since the Warriors' championship run in 2022, Antetokounmpo appeared to be the top target for Golden State to pair alongside Stephen Curry. After a flurry of rumors, the Warriors' long-looming trade saga with the Bucks All-Star forward appears to finally be over.
For the first time in his career, Antetokounmpo is reportedly on the move. Yet, his destination will not be the Bay Area. On Monday night, the Bucks and Miami Heat agreed to a blockbuster trade, sending Antetokounmpo to South Beach, per multiple reports.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Heat traded a package of Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and three first-round picks, a pick swap and a second-round pick to Milwaukee for Antetokounmpo and veteran forward Bobby Portis.

Despite being linked for years, Golden State reportedly weren't on Antetokounmpo's final list of destinations where he'd sign an extension. According to Chris Haynes of NBA TV, Antetokounmpo was open to sign an extension with the Heat, the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Antetokounmpo spent 13 seasons in Milwaukee, winning the NBA title in 2021. Antetokounmpo was named an All-Star 10 times with the Bucks and won the MVP award in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
At 31-years-old, Antetokounmpo played 36 games in his final season with the Bucks, averaging 27.6 points on 62.4% shooting from the field with 9.8 boards and 5.4 assists per contest.
