The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly completed a virtual meeting with Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter, according to The Draft Network's Justin Melo.
During the pre-draft process, teams are able to have up to 30 players on actual visits to the team facility. When it comes to virtual meetings, there is no limit to how many of those meetings teams have.
These virtual meetings provide teams with the opportunity to get to know the prospect more and discuss film.
Hunter measured in at 5-9 - 204 pounds, and he posted a Relative Athletic Score (RAS) of 8.00 out of 10, which included running a 4.44 second 40-yard dash.
Hunter has totaled at least 100 rushing attempts in each of the last three seasons, including 160 in 2023 and a career-high of 186 in 2024. For his career, he's averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per rush and scored 25 touchdowns.
During the 2024 season, Hunter was one of the best at making defenders missing, ranking 19th among all backs in missed tackles forced, according to PFF, and that resulted in quite a few big runs, with Hunter also ranking eighth in rushes of 10-plus yards.
Hunter also finished his career with 90 targets over four seasons in the passing game, averaging 8.2 yards per catch with four touchdowns.
For more on Hunter, here is a snippet of what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting report:
"Run-after-contact machine who can extend the play well beyond what you might expect. Hunter is a compact back renowned for his lower-body power and battering-ram mentality. He frequently tears through arm tackles and drags tacklers for extra yardage."
Even with the addition of Khalil Herbert, the Colts should still add to the running back position. For one, this year's draft class is extremely deep, but in addition to that, more production is needed from the backup role behind Jonathan Taylor, so creating more competition when it comes to playing time and even roster spots isn't a bad thing.
This is a Colts offense that could also benefit from a pass-catching presence out of the backfield, which would add another dimension to this offense.
