Werder Bremen are set to sign Austria goalkeeper Alexander Schlager from RB Salzburg, daily Salzburger Nachrichten said on Thursday.
The report said that Schlager is to move on a free transfer despite a contract until 2027.
Schlager played in all four World Cup matches and saved a penalty from superstar Lionel Messi in their group match against Argentina. Austria went out in the last 16.
Bremen are set to start the new Bundesliga season with permanently signed Estonian Karl Hein as first choice and Schlager is to challenge him for playing time.
Bremen needed reinforcements between the post after Mio Backhaus left for Freiburg for a reported €15 million ($17.1 million) last month.
