Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nathan Scheelhaase might have another team looking to hire him to be their next head coach.
The Buffalo Bills, who fired long-time head coach Sean McDermott earlier this month, reportedly requested to interview Scheelhaase for their open position, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Scheelhaase had his second interview for the Cleveland Browns' head coaching position on Monday in L.A., following the Rams' NFC championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Scheelhaase, 35, has been a hot name to watch during this head coach hiring cycle. He's a frontrunner for the Browns job after also interviewing with the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens. Scheelhaase has only coached in the NFL for two seasons, both with the Rams, after working for Illinois and Iowa State in various offensive assistant roles. He played quarterback at Illinois from 2009 to 2013.
If he doesn't leave his interview with the Browns as their head coach, he could meet with the Bills next. That job is likely a little more enticing, considering the Bills' recent playoff success and getting the chance to coach former NFL MVP Josh Allen at quarterback.
