Down the stretch they come.
The next-to-last week of the wrestling season features eight region tournaments across the state on March 6 and 7 that will determine the state tournament brackets.
The top four finishers in each of the 14 weight classes advance to the big wrestling dance on March 12-14 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Region 4 takes place at Union High School with teams from Essex, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Somerset, Hudson, Sussex and Union counties.

Watchung Hills’ three-time state medalist Anthony DiAndrea at 132 (third at 126 last season) highlights a deep field. Other stars include two-time state placewinners in Pope John’s Dalton Weber at 126 (eighth at 132 last season), St. Peter’s Prep’s Sal Borrometi at 132 (sixth at 126 last year) and teammate Anthony Verdi at 175 (sixth at 175 last season).
St. Peter’s Prep’s Giovanni Schinina at 138 (fourth at 132) and Joseph Ruiz at 157 (fifth at 150) also reached the state podium in 2025.
North Hunterdon has a dozen wrestlers led by CaydenWadle (106,) OwenFol (113) and Aidan Yarussi (132, top 12 in state last season). Scotch Plains-Fanwood’s Paul Boyle (215) is one of the few remaining undefeated wrestlers in the state at 40-0.
Tickets for each day can be bought in advance here – Adults $13 and Students $11 (includes the $1 online fee). Tickets are $15 cash-only at the door.

Friday, March 6: The pre-quarterfinals start at 5 p.m. followed by the quarterfinals (four mats).
Saturday, March 7: Semifinals start at 9 a.m. followed by the first and second consolation rounds (four mats). There is no set time for the finals and placement matches. Wrestling will continue all day culminating with the First, Third and Fifth-place matches on three mats.
