The 2025 American League Cy Young runner-up Garrett Crochet will make his first start of the season on Opening Day against a Cincinnati Reds squad that enters 2026 as one of the most exciting young rosters in MLB.
The Boston Red Sox travel to Great American Ball Park for their opening series, where Crochet will face a high-octane Reds lineup featuring Elly De La Cruz and the returning Eugenio Suárez.

Crochet is slated to duel with the Reds' Andrew Abbott, who earned the Opening Day nod after a breakout 2025 season where he posted a 2.87 ERA. After establishing himself as one of the few true No. 1 starters in the game, Crochet enters this year as the centerpiece of a rebuilt Red Sox rotation that now includes Ranger Suárez and Sonny Gray.
