Houston Astros star Yordan Álvarez

If the Boston Red Sox are going to dig themselves out of this early-season hole they find themselves in, they are going to need to be bold.

Because of that, they should get the Houston Astros on the phone and see if there is any price that will get the club to consider trading superstar slugger Yordan Álvarez away.

Álvarez is a superstar and is slashing .301/.416/.634 with a 1.050 OPS, 20 homers, 39 RBIs, 39 walks, 12 doubles and 39 runs scored in 60 games played. That's what Boston needs right now. With that being said, let's try to put together a mock trade to get both sides interested.

Red Sox Receive: OF/DH Yordan Álvarez

Astros Receive: OF Jarren Duran, INF Franklin Arias, RHP Anthony Eyanson

This would be a lot, of course. Duran is under team control and getting hot. Arias and Eyanson are the Red Sox's top two prospects and have been awesome down in the minors this season. While this is the case, the Astros don't have to trade Álvarez. In fact, the only reason for Houston to consider a deal would be if it were to be an overpay. So, while this proposal would sting, the Red Sox would get what they need with an elite slugger.
