The Red Sox picked up an 8-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, but there was a scary situation in the seventh inning.

The Orioles' lone run came in the seventh inning thanks to an RBI triple from Adley Rutschman. On the play, centerfielder Ceddanne Rafaela charged back toward the wall, but was unable to make the play as he went crashing into the padding. Rafaela remained on the ground for a brief moment afterwards.

Interim manager Chad Tracy spoke on the situation involving his Gold Glove outfielder.

“Your first thought is, where did he hit? Did he jostle his head or is there a concussion or something?” Tracy said, per MassLive's Christopher Smith. “I saw him down for a second. Obviously you saw me run out pretty quickly. Just was concerned. But he was in good spirits when I got out there.”

Tracy described the situation as "scary." Tracy was not wrong. Rafaela is one of the most important players on the team, and his defense is some of the best in all of baseball. He has constantly made difficult catches look routine, so if he was unable to come up with the catch, it must have truly been impossible.

The Red Sox offense has struggled as a whole, but Rafaela has actually been one of the few reliable hitters. He is slashing .287/.348/.441 entering play on Friday. He has five home runs as well. The team cannot really afford to lose him, so the fact that he was able to get up is great.
