The Boston Red Sox have gotten off to a solid start in 2025, with a 17 and 16 record, just two games behind the New York Yankees for the American League East division lead. A huge factor behind their early returns has been rookie infielder and outfielder Kristian Campbell.

In an article from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, anonymous Major League Baseball executives were asked to vote for who they believed to be the most impressive rookie so far. Campbell earned 11 votes, six more than the next closest vote getter.

One National League executive commented on Campbell's start and how Campbell has risen from being a fourth-round draft pick to making an impact at multiple positions at the MLB level.

"It has been incredible to see him go from a fourth-rounder to stud big leaguer in less than two years, all while playing both infield and outfield."

So far in 2025, Campbell has played 24 games at second base, four in center field, and one in left field. His flexibility to go between the infield and the outfield is a great skill to have. It allows for more dynamic and flexible lineups, while also opening the door to keep bench bats fresh when needed.

Another National League executive commented on Campbells rookie season so far, and how he's been impressed by him.

"He looks like the real deal. He can impact the game on both sides."

Campbell hasn't just made an impact as a fielder, he's also been great at the plate. Across 29 games and 123 plate appearances, Campbell has an impressive .902 OPS.

He's accumulated 1.1 WAR, along with 31 hits, 18 runs, eight doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI, two stolen bases, and 19 walks. Campbell has a batting average of .301 and a slugging percentage of .495.

Campbell entered the year as the Red Sox's number two-ranked prospect and Major League Baseball's number six prospect. At just 22 years old, Campbell is already living up to the hype and helping the Red Sox compete in a tough American League East.
