The Boston Red Sox handed the red-hot Minnesota Twins their fourth straight win on Tuesday, losing 6-0. The Red Sox received a poor starting pitching performance from right-hander Sonny Gray, who allowed five earned runs in four innings.

Gray’s performance was forgettable as the 36-year-old was clearly upset about not having his best stuff.

“They just beat me,” Gray said to NESN postgame. “They beat me. I felt okay. And then, you know, I wasn't. I couldn't focus as well as I needed to. That's what I felt like the balls coming out of my hand, okay, just wasn't able to A. Put us in a position to win, which I feel like is our job as starting pitchers, and B. It's just that they beat me. They beat me, and they beat us. And, you know, I don't like that.”

Overall, through four starts, Gray is 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA. Gray was coming off a great start against the Milwaukee Brewers on April 8, going 6.1 innings, walking two, striking out two, and earning the win.

Gray’s struggles aren't just his alone, with the Red Sox starting staff as a whole struggling. The Red Sox have the third-worst team ERA (5.27) and WHIP (1.54) in Major League Baseball.

Red Sox ace, left-hander Garrett Crochet, has also struggled after finishing second in the American League Cy Young Award voting last season. In Crochet’s four starts, he's 2-2 with a 7.58 ERA and has hit more batters (four) early this season than he did last season (three).

Back at it on Wednesday, the Red Sox will send left-hander Connelly Early (2.63 ERA) to the mound to halt their skid.
