Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is on quite a power binge right now.

It started in spring training, when Duran got off to a torrid start. In just five games before leaving for the World Baseball Classic, he batted .583/.667/1.500 with three home runs, two doubles and five RBI, including two homers off left-handed pitchers.

He's continued that hot streak for Mexico in the WBC. After going yard against Brazil on Sunday, he smashed a pair of homers against Team USA at Daikin Park on Monday.

Both came off lefty Matthew Boyd. With Mexico trailing 5-0 in the top of the sixth, Duran got Mexico on the board with a solo shot off Boyd.

With Mexico still down 5-2 in the eighth, Duran did it again, launching another solo shot off Boyd.

Duran finished 3-for-4 from the leadoff spot in Mexico's 5-3 loss to Team USA. It was Mexico's first loss of pool play and first WBC loss against the Americans in 20 years.

While Duran's Red Sox teammates Roman Anthony and Garrett Whitlock are moving on, he's got plenty to be happy about. He's having an incredible spring and appears poised for a big year after taking a small step back last season.

The 29-year-old has never been a huge home run guy, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him surpass his career high of 21 this season if he stays healthy. Boston needs all the pop it can get this year, so Duran's power surge has been a welcome development so far.
