Record book: See the top seasons, careers in Livingston County hockey

Back before there was an eight-goal mercy rule in high school hockey, top players were able to put up mindboggling stats because blowout games would continue for the full 45 minutes.

During the same 1983-84 season that Flint Powers Catholic’s Ron Rolston had a state-record 17-point game against Clio, Howell’s Paul Mitter became the first and only Livingston County player to break the 100-point plateau for a season.

Mitter had 50 goals and 54 assists for 104 points, a season that included a 10-point game during a 20-1 victory over Pinckney on Feb. 22, 1984. Nobody has come closer than 15 points from that record since then.

As part of a series on Livingston County sports records that I'm posting before my retirement, I researched the top scoring seasons and careers by going through old all-county articles. I am fairly confident with the season records, but it’s possible something slipped through the cracks on the career marks.
