The MLB trade deadline is just under two months away, and rumors/speculation are at an all-time high.

One name that's starting to gain some attention is Baltimore Orioles' catcher Adley Rutschman. The former No.1 overall pick remains without a long-term extension, and he's proving his worth after a couple of down seasons with the Orioles.

A recent trade prediction by Fansided.com's Mark Powell links Adley with the Chicago White Sox.

Should the White Sox trade for Adley Rutschman?

Powell wrote (on 6/8): "Let's start by explaining why the White Sox should break the bank for Adley. His numbers, which come in at a .832 OPS and 134 OPS+, are some of the best at his position. And it's not like Rutschman is a liability defensively. He has 33 defensive runs saved above league average in his career, and this season is just one behind the MLB pace. "

Powell proposes that the White Sox could give up prospects Hagen Smith, Jeral Perez, and Duncan Davit to land Rutschman. That seems like a fair enough deal, but Adley's trade status definitely hinges on whether the Orioles are actually willing to move on from him. Remember, Baltimore also has Samuel Basallo as a catcher/DH option, which is what makes Adley an attractive trade candidate for other MLB teams, like the White Sox.

"Will he eventually have to consider switching positions or DH'ing more frequently than he'd like? Sure. For now, though, he remains far better than any catcher on the White Sox roster. Chicago has the fourth-lowest fWAR at catcher in MLB, in front of only the Angels, Rays and Nationals."

The Chicago White Sox are currently 34-31, and firmly in the AL Wild Card race. GM Chris Getz has made it clear that while the team isn't necessarily focusing on 2026, if an opportunity presents itself, the White Sox will be aggressive this summer.
