Anthony Richardson played the entire first half in the Indianapolis Colts' preseason opener against the New England Patriots, and he put together what may have been his best performance of training camp.
Richardson finished the first half by completing 11-of-14 passes for 145 yards. Under Richardson, the Colts' offense was able to generate several chunk plays, with four players recording one reception of at least 16 yards.
We also saw Richardson's ability to impact the game with the ball in his hands, rushing for 53 yards on six attempts with a touchdown.
In the final minutes of the first half, Richardson led a scoring drive and put the Colts in field goal range at the end of half.
That said, there were ups and downs as well. While Richardson's interception should have instead been a reception by Coleman Owen, the pass was slightly off target and into tight coverage. He also fumbled once as a ball carrier.
But overall, a promising performance for the fourth-year quarterback who is competing with Riley Leonard for the backup role. Now, the biggest thing for Richardson will be maintaining this consistency moving forward.
