Ray Rice Revisited...

Saw the interview with Jemele Hill yesterday on ESPN. Heard her, Cris Carter and Adam Schefter on Mike and Mike this morning. I think I was wrong about this guy and this situation. I think the 5 min video clip and the grotesque behavior that was captured on tape is not at all indicative of Ray's true character and the relationship he and his wife have enjoyed for more than 20 years now. Her family has forgiven him. She has forgiven him and unlike so many other jagoffs, Ray has and continues to take full accountability for what he did...
His performance on the field in 2013 was hampered by a hip injury that required offseason surgery.

I love how BASK and Michael are building this team. And I love how they've been willing to take calculated risks, like Badger... like hiring the first female intern.
I believe Ray deserves a second chance... And I wouldn't mind at all if the Cards were that team that gave him that chance!

I think he deserves a second chance. I worked in Baltimore a lot before the punching incident occured and Ray Rice was the golden child of Baltimore. He did everything to help that community which made him even more popular. He made a huge mistake and has paid the price for it. Still I think everyone deserves a second chance.

I don't know if he will ever be a good RB. But I hope he at least gets another chance with some team. I know that this has obviously been a difficult time for him. He brought it upon himself. However he has been through much worse before and come out on top:

LOL... True... But I honestly wouldn't mind seeing him wearing a Cards uni! When I look at our current situation, with Ellington seemingly unable to stay healthy and now our #2 out with a hammy, I think we can do a TON worse than giving Rice a shot.

I dunno.. I think you - and most others, are selling him short. In 2012, he ran for nearly 1,200 yards with a 4.4 YPC. In 2013 he played the entire season with a hip & quad issue, as well as running behind a putrid o-line. The hip needed surgery after the season.
He's only 28 and missed the entire 2014 season. He never stopped working out and is in top shape. And he wouldn't cost much at all...

Perhaps, but is the headache of the national media worth the gamble of him returning to his 2012 form? What about when D-Wash is reinstated? Granted D-Wash has nowhere near the national attention as Rice, but that situation would be unnecessarily amplified.

The level of production he would provide simply would not merit the magnitude of attention that would inherently come with his re-signing. Similar to Michael Sam and Tim Tebow for different reasons. Lack of skill and production simply isn't worth it.

Good point and definitely a concern of mine as well... I was more thinking about how great of a story it would be - of redemption - should Rice go on and put up numbers more in line with his historical performances...
