The Ravens have interviewed 13 candidates for their vacant head coaching job, and they brought in two of Sean McVay's rising stars for a visit on Saturday. Baltimore interviewed Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase. An offensive-minded (coached running backs, receivers, and quarterbacks in addition to one year as offensive coordinator at Iowa State) Scheelhaase played quarterback at the University of Illinois and has quickly developed a reputation around the NFL.

This season was his second in the NFL, and he's never had a head coaching job on any level.

Scheelhaase's rise through the ranks was rapid. In January 2018, he was hired as the running backs coach at Iowa State under head coach Matt Campbell. He then transitioned to the role of wide receivers coach in 2019, while also taking on the responsibilities of running game coordinator and retaining his position as running backs coach. Before the 2023 season, Scheelhaase was promoted to offensive coordinator.

Scheelhaase made his way to the NFL ranks when he was hired as a pass game specialist by the Rams in February 2024.
