Ravens-Eagles trade pitch sends $96 three-time Pro Bowl WR to Baltimore to join Lamar Jackson originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Baltimore Ravens have a clear incentive to add a high-profile wide receiver to their roster before the fun begins in 2026-27.
Lamar Jackson needs to be surrounded with as many game-changing wideouts as possible entering his ninth NFL season to give him the best possible chance to help Baltimore get over the hump in the AFC.
Why not go all-in on a Philadelphia Eagles three-time Pro Bowl WR who’s expected to be on the move this summer? It would be somewhat of a long shot, considering there isn’t a report indicating they're in the mix for the 28-year-old Super Bowl champion, but it’s a move Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox thinks Baltimore should consider.
“The Baltimore Ravens shook things up a bit this offseason, replacing head coach John Harbaugh with Jesse Minter,” Knox wrote Thursday. “However, much of the roster remains unchanged, and Lamar Jackson is still the quarterback. One of the biggest issues (Lamar) Jackson has faced to this point in his career is a lack of overall receiver talent.”
“Zay Flowers is a fine top target, but the depth behind him has been lacking for some time. No other wideout reached 350 receiving yards for the Ravens last season."
"The Ravens did use third- and fourth-round picks on Ja'Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, but they may need time to develop. Acquiring Brown now would immediately give Jackson a legitimate perimeter playmaker next to Flowers.”
To be clear, the expectation is for Brown to join the New England Patriots on or after June. 1. The Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars have recently entered the equation, but New England is believed to have a leg up on the rest of the competition.
Still, that doesn’t exclude the Ravens from pursuing the former Tennessee Titans star and potentially pulling off arguably the biggest trade of the offseason. Surrendering a first and/ or second-round pick would likely help Baltimore convince Philadelphia to take them seriously in trade talks.
The race to acquire Brown could heat up as the new month approaches.
