Offense may sell tickets, but every Baltimore Ravens fan can appreciate a great defense. This organization has long been known for fielding some of the NFL's stingiest. From Hall of Famers to perennial Pro Bowlers, standout defensive backs have become part of the organization's identity over the years.
That's why one recent league-wide ranking stands out. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler polled more than 70 NFL executives, coaches and scouts to determine the NFL's top 10 cornerbacks entering the 2026 season. Despite Baltimore once again fielding one of the league's projected top rosters, the Ravens failed to place a single cornerback among the top 10.
Veteran Marlon Humphrey was listed among the players receiving votes. Unfortunately, he was the franchise's only representative outside the final rankings. The absence doesn't necessarily suggest the Ravens are weak at cornerback. Instead, it reflects the level of competition at one of the league's deepest positions.
The absence doesn't necessarily suggest the Ravens are weak at cornerback. Instead, it reflects the level of competition at one of the league's deepest positions. Nine players returned from last year's rankings, and the lone newcomer earned first-team All-Pro honors before cracking the top 10. Breaking into that group required more than simply being a reliable starter. Still, Baltimore's omission is notable.
The Ravens enter training camp with legitimate championship aspirations and one of the NFL's most respected defensive units. Their projected starting lineup includes established veterans, ascending young talent and arguably the league's best safety in Kyle Hamilton, yet the cornerback room remains one position where league evaluators appear to want more.
That doesn't mean the conversation is over. Humphrey has built an impressive résumé throughout his career, while Baltimore will be counting on younger defensive backs to elevate the position throughout the 2026 season. If the Ravens' secondary performs the way the organization expects, this could be one of those rankings that looks very different a year from now. Time will tell, but this group of DBs remains a safe group to wager on.
