The Ravens are a tight-knit group, and hours after dominating the Browns at Paycor Stadium, their trio of offensive stars gave local students a fantastic gift of service and gratitude on Monday.
On Monday, Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers joined M&T Bank and EVERFI to host an interactive personal finance game for fourth-grade students at Severn Elementary School. Alongside Flowers, Ravens cheerleaders, Poe, and volunteers, 75 students participated in fun, hands-on games, including "Game Day Budget Challenge" and "Financial Wellness Jenga."
After the event, Flowers, All-Pro quarterback Lamar Jackson, and All-Pro running back Derrick Henry were among the Ravens who served local students today by washing their feet and providing them with new shoes. The acts of service, led by the Ravens' team chaplain, represent the importance of humility and serving others.
Washing someone's feet has long been considered a powerful symbolic act representing humility, love, and servanthood, originating with Jesus washing his disciples' feet as a lesson to serve others selflessly, regardless of status. It is practiced in many Christian traditions as a ritual of spiritual cleansing and community, signifying putting others first, overcoming differences, and showing deep care, often performed as a sacrament or part of fellowship meals.
Following the amazing gesture, the local kids received new shoes to cap off a marvelous Monday.
