The 2026 FIFA World Cup is finally here! The 48-team, 104-match event kicks off Thursday, June 11, with a pair of Group A matches in Mexico.
The U.S. Men’s National Team begins its quest for a first World Cup trophy at 9 p.m. ET Friday against Paraguay at the stadium formerly known as SoFi in Inglewood, California.

That’s right. FIFA required the renaming of any World Cup host stadium featuring a corporate sponsor. Why? Because those corporate sponsors are not FIFA corporate sponsors.

On Wednesday, FIFA shared a social media post ranking the North American World Cup hosts stadiums by seating capacity.
Following is a list of the eight largest World Cup stadiums and what games they will host. FIFA hopes the 2026 World Cup will break an average attendance record of 68,991 set in 1994, the last time the U.S. hosted the event. These stadiums certainly have the capacity for it.

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., boasts a seating capacity of 78,576. The home of the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets will play host to four group-stage matches beginning Saturday. Then, it will welcome Round of 32 and Round of 16 knockout games.
The World Cup Final is set for July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium.

Also known as Estadio Azteca, with a capacity of 72,766, Mexico City Stadium received the honor of opening the World Cup with host nation Mexico playing South Africa on Thursday.
The home of Club America will play host to three group-stage matches as well as Round of 32 and Round of 16 contests.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ pride and joy, AT&T Stadium, can hold 70,122 soccer fans.
Now Dallas Stadium, Jerry World is a busy venue for the World Cup. It will host five group-stage matches, two Round of 32 events and one Round of 16 and semifinal contest.

As mentioned, Los Angeles Stadium is SoFi Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Chargers, not to mention the Super Bowl in 2027. It comes in just short of 70,000 capacity at 69,650.
Los Angeles Stadium serves as the venue for five group-stage matches, including two involving the USMNT, as well as two Round of 32 matches and a quarterfinal.
