It's been a busy offseason for all four AFC East teams.
The New York Jets are rebuilding with a temporary solution like Geno Smith at quarterback, with an eye pointed towards their three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft. Their division rivals have also been active.
The Buffalo Bills traded for wide receiver DJ Moore. The New England Patriotsmatched them by acquiring A.J. Brown. The Miami Dolphins are in full-blown rebuild mode. With that in mind, we've ranked all four AFC East teams after a busy offseason.
Here is Jets Wire's current ranking of teams in the AFC East:
The Patriots won the AFC East division title in 2025, but they are a slight regression candidate after shocking the NFL world with a Super Bowl appearance one season after a 4-win campaign. The Bills have dominated the division for the better part of the decade and we expect them to retake the throne this season.
The Patriots will appreciate their chances to win the division again. They've made big-time offseason acquisitions like Brown and Dre'Mont Jones. The Mike Vrabel offseason distraction was unfortunate, but they'll believe in their ability to repeat their 2025 successes.
The Jets are still rebuilding, but they're undoubtedly ahead of the Dolphins. A stellar supporting cast is in place on offense, with the likes of Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Adonai Mitchell, and draft picks Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. The Jets are headed in the right direction.
After trading Jaylen Waddle and releasing Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill, the Dolphins are closer to competing for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2027 NFL draft than they are for the AFC East division title. The Dolphins are in full-blown rebuild mode. They'll set their sights on quarterbacks Arch Manning and Dante Moore in 2027.
