The 2025 NFL Draft was a big one for the Los Angeles Rams. Not only did the team add some key pieces on offense and defense, but they also answered some big questions about what they think about the roster heading into the year.
One of the biggest answers from the draft including the future of the quarterback position. A lot of pundits believe L.A. would draft a young quarterback to eventually take over for Matthew Stafford, but that didn't happen. Instead, the Rams drafted at a few other positions with entrenched starters, perhaps indicating the team's interest in moving in another direction either in 2025 or 2026.
While not all six of their picks will make an immediate impact on the 2025 season, the hope is that all six will play roles throughout the year and into the next year. However, the picks will affect some of the returning players who are currently on the Rams' roster.
Here are the biggest winners and losers on the Rams following the 2025 NFL Draft.
Stafford is a winner for two reasons: The Rams added some nice offensive weapons for him and didn't bring in a young quarterback who could nip at his toes. Terrance Ferguson is another nice pass-catching tight end option, while running back Jarquez Hunter is a fun and explosive player Sean McVay will have fun deploying in 2025.
The Ferguson pick effectively sealed Parkinson's fate in the Rams' depth chart. While Ferguson could also eventually take Tyler Higbee's spot, the Rams clearly coveted a competent TE2 ahead of Parkinson.
Many considered cornerback as a major need for the Rams heading into the draft, but L.A. didn't take any defensive backs. That should keep the rest of the depth chart safe, unless the Rams actually trade for Jalen Ramsey
Williams and the Rams are in active negotiations on a long-term extension, but that doesn't mean one will get done. The Rams took a running back in Hunter who compares similarly to Williams, too, meaning the Rams could be preparing for life without their star running back in the near future. Blake Corum's role could also be in jeopardy.
The Rams had a few opportunities to add another dynamic pass-catcher but opted to address other positions. That in and of itself is an endorsement of Atwell, who should maintain his hold on the Rams' WR3 spot even after the addition of Konata Mumpfield in the seventh round.
Reeder was poised either start at inside linebacker again or be a key backup player for the unit. The Chris Paul Jr. pick complicates that. While Reeder could still start high on the depth chart, the trio of Omar Speights, Nate Landman and Paul Jr. are all younger and more exciting than Reeder.
