When the Los Angeles Rams lost right tackle Rob Havenstein to a knee injury heading into their Week 5 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, there were some nerves about how Warren McClendon Jr. would hold up in his place.
Prior to 2025, McClendon had appeared in 19 games over two years but had only started five, and now he was expected to take over for the longest-tenured Ram for a few weeks.
McClendon answered the bell for three games, and when Havenstein landed on injured reserve with an ankle injury later in the year, those same worries weren't there.
In fact, the 24-year-old played so well that he allowed pressures on just 2.94% of his snaps, which was the best pressure rate allowed by any right tackle in the league in 2025.
McClendon ended up starting 10 games for the Rams and was clearly a better option than Havenstein at this point in their careers. Now, with Havenstein announcing his retirement early this offseason, the former fifth-round pick will likely be Los Angeles' starter heading into 2026, and they should feel comfortable with that.
In fact, the Rams might want to work on getting him locked in on an extension before he hits the market in 2027.
