The Los Angeles Rams 2025 NFL Draft class earned a lot of high marks in the immediate aftermath from experts and fans. The collection of players filled a few positions of need and set the team up for a relatively successful short- and long-term future.

Tight end Terrance Ferguson and linebacker Chris Paul Jr. could quickly earn starting roles with the team, while others like edge rusher Josaiah Stewart and running back Jarquez Hunter fill out the depth chart and provide skills the Rams needed on defense and offense.

However, not everyone loved the Rams' draft. NFL's Next Gen Stats gave Los Angeles the third-lowest draft score, according to it's advanced metrics from Amazon Quicksight. The Rams class earned a 70.4 score, which averaged the team's top seven picks (the Rams only have six). The only teams to finish worse were Dallas Cowboys (30th, 70.3) and the Miami Dolphins (32nd, 68.8).

There are a lot of metrics that go into this number, from athleticism to college production to other advanced analytics. This isn't an indication that the Rams' class is bad or will fail, rather it's just a ranking of where the collection of these players compare to the collection of the rest of the league's draft classes.

The Rams also traded up for a lot of these players and didn't pick until the No. 46 selection following a first-round trade. Considering there were a lot of highly-regarded prospects already taken by the time L.A. drafted its first player, that likely affected the score as well.

And as general manager Les Snead and Sean McVay have proven in recent years, they know how to find talent that fits their team well.
