The Los Angeles Rams will be hoping to see more from their 2025 rookie class in 2026.

While the Rams didn't need a lot from them, L.A.'s first-year players didn't have a big impact on the season. Oddly enough, though, quarterback Matthew Stafford targeted two rookie pass-catchers on the Rams' last two red zone passes in the season. The first went to seventh-rounder Konata Mumpfield on third down, while the final one went to second-round tight end Terrance Ferguson on fourth down.

Neither ended in receptions, though, and the Rams turned the ball over on downs before losing the game.

Both Mumpfield and Ferguson are expected back in 2026, and either could see more opportunities depending on how the rest of the offseason goes. In fact, Pro Football Focus' Dalton Wasserman predicts Ferguson will be the Rams' breakout star in 2026 because of the potential departure of starting tight end Tyler Higbee.

The Rams love their multiple-tight-end sets, and veteran Tyler Higbee is slated to be a free agent this offseason. That leaves Colby Parkinson and Terrance Ferguson as the top internal options remaining at the position. Parkinson is a favorite of quarterback Matthew Stafford, but Ferguson racked up 250 receiving yards and three touchdowns this season, including postseason play. Incredibly, he produced that yardage total across just 12 receptions. More big plays from Ferguson should be in store in 2026.

Ferguson flashed at times this year despite a slow start, showing off both his big-play ability and red zone prowess. The Rams rely on their tight ends, so it only makes sense that their most developmental prospect would take a bigger leap in his first full offseason after his rookie year.

A lot can change between now and the start of the 2026 season, but Ferguson's arrow had been trending up all year long.
