NFL free agency begins in approximately one week, on March 11th. The negotiating window opens two days earlier on March 9. The Las Vegas Raiders are currently equipped with $88.1 million in free agency. That's second-most behind just the Tennessee Titans.
New head coach Klint Kubiak will undoubtedly be looking to strengthen his offense. One position that carried loads of importance for Kubiak as the offensive coordinator of the Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks was the center spot. The Seahawks got improved play from starter Jalen Sundell in 2025, and it led to a more explosive and efficient offense.
The consensus top center slated to reach the market is Tyler Linderbaum of the Baltimore Ravens. Matthew Berry of NBC Sports is reporting that the Raiders are preparing to make a strong push for Linderbaum if the Ravens fail to re-sign him. That makes sense, given the Raiders' flexible cap situation and need at center.
Signing Linderbaum would give presumed Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza a pivot he can trust. Developing the relationship between quarterback and center is imperative for a rookie signal-caller. Mendoza would love to have a proven vet like Linderbaum call the shots.
Signing Linderbaum would allow the Raiders to play Jackson Powers-Johnson at guard. That would give Kubiak and his offensive staff a strong group of interior blockers. The Ravens are racing the clock to re-sign Linderbaum. The Raiders are waiting for free agency to start.
