I'm a little confused how it could have been prior to the pick....If it's prior to the pick, it was pretty fast after the release.
If Ray hit Kitna just after he threw the ball, but before the ball reached the Hill, it would have been prior to the pick, and the penalty would be legitimate (Odds were 99% that this is what happened - I was just curious).
If it's after the pick, it's a penalty, but Arizona keeps the ball.
That's what I don't understand. If Kitna was hit after Hill snagged the ball, wouldn't Ray be allowed then to consider Kitna a would-be tackler and fair game to be "blocked?" Or if the ball was tipped and considered a "free ball", wouldn't Kitna also be considered fair game?
I'm not saying this is what happened. I'm just curious about what the league rules are, and a tiny bit curious about the sequence of "hit" and pick.
