Former Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden is in the middle of a terrific season with the Los Angeles Clippers. He was an All-Star in the 2024-25 season after averaging 22.8 points, 8.7 assists, and 5.8 rebounds while guiding the Clippers to a 50-32 record and the No. 5 seed in a tough Western Conference.

Harden then put up 32 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds in a tough overtime Game 1 loss to the Denver Nuggets on the road. Clearly, The Beard still has it and was able to put everything on display in his second season in LA after his messy divorce from the Sixers.

Current Sixers guard Quentin Grimes hopped on "The Young Man and the Three" podcast and told a story of how he played some pickup with Harden while he was a member of the Houston Rockets. Harden was so impressed that he helped him get to the University of Houston through a phone call to Cougars coach Kelvin Sampson. That led to Grimes giving a lot of praise to Harden.

Grimes stated on Harden:

Just being one of those one-on-one players, I mean, I don’t know it’s a rhythm, but it’s not a rhythm kind of the way he dribbles and he’s left-handed. The side step is different. So, just watching--even guarding him is tough because if he jumps forward with a shot, you can’t contest crazy, they are gonna call it. He’s James Harden. He's gonna get the call...He’s just special. He’s a bigger dude, he’s 6’5”, he can put his shoulder into you, get to a fade, he gets all the way to the rim, and then he’s throwing the lob to whoever is around the rim. He’s just a special player.

It will be interesting to see if Harden and the Clippers can find a way to have a deep playoff run. A combination of himself, Kawhi Leonard, and a healthy supporting cast could make LA a sleeper team. Of course, they will have to find a way to get through the Denver Nuggets in Round 1.
