2026 NFL mock drafts are popping up everywhere now. The latest version to come out shows the New York Jets selecting Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson at No. 5 overall in next year’s draft.

The Jets are flying at tree-top level in the wide receiver room, with Garrett Wilson as the only true weapon on the perimeter. In this year’s draft, the Jets drafted wide receiver Arian Smith in the 4th round. Tyson would be a welcome addition and a true weapon to pair with Wilson next season.

Tyson was the offensive newcomer of the year in the conference after catching 75 balls for 1,100 yards and double-digit TDs in 2024. He averaged almost 15 yards per catch.

Tyson went over the century mark five times, including three consecutive games against Kansas State (176 yards), #14 BYU (125 yards) and in-state nemesis Arizona (143 yards).

However, Tyson was injured in the Arizona game and sat out the Big 12 Championship win over Iowa State and the College Football Playoff loss vs. Texas.

Tyson has been cleared to return to the Sun Devils and he resumed football drills during spring practice. Tyson is the leading returning receiver in the conference.

The Jets are a perennial quarterback-needy team. 15 quarterbacks have been selected by the Jets over the last 25 seasons, but just four in round 1. You remember Zach Wilson (2021), Sam Darnold (2018), Mark Sanchez (2009) and Chad Pennington (2000).

The Jets released QB Aaron Rodgers this offseason. Justin Fields is expected to be under center for the Jets this season after signing a two-year contract.

A potential Fields-to-Jordyn Tyson QB/WR scenario in the Big Apple next season should sound pretty good to Jets fans. As usual, the Jets need all the help they can get.
