Texas A&M's sixth preseason practice took place on Wednesday afternoon, and by all accounts, redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed is ready for the 2026 season. After another impressive showing since the preseason began, Reed has yet to throw an interception or commit a fumble, while, for the most part, his throws have been accurate with solid touch.

During his first full starting season, Marcel Reed totaled 3,600 yards and 31 touchdowns, including 3,169 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, but struggled against top-35-ranked defenses, throwing just six touchdowns and eight of his 12 interceptions, especially against more complex zone defenses.

After Collin Klein departed to take over as Kansas State's head coach, third-year coach Mike Elko elevated WR coach Holmon Wiggins as the program's new offensive coordinator, despite his lack of play-calling experience; he did serve as Klein's co-OC during the last two seasons.

Still, Wiggins' background as one of the top wide receiver coaches in the country should lead to Reed at least matching his 2025 production, especially after Alabama wideout Isaiah Horton transferred to Texas A&M this offseason, bringing much-needed production at 6'4", pairing with Mario Craver, Ashton Bethel-Roman, and Terry Bussey, who has thrived this fall.

After Wednesday's practice, Reed stated that, aside from committing zero turnovers, he has taken full control of the offense, as the communication has stayed consistent throughout. Terry Bussey, who has thrived in nearly every preseason practice, is on track to make a massive impact at a position he is close to mastering after his first two seasons.
