Happy Saturday Husky fans. The Huskies hosted a big wave of visitors for their junior day last weekend and one of the visitors on campus was 3 star offensive lineman Lincoln Mageo from Oceanside HS, CA. Rated as the 33rd best interior offensive lineman by 247sports, Mageo has a large contingent of schools after him and UW is one of the schools pushing hard to land him. Here is a little bit of what Mageo had to say to me about his recruitment and interest in UW:

UWDP: UW has been after you for a while. When did you first start hearing from them and what are your thoughts on the program?

They offered me my sophomore year around spring ball. I think their program is great. We went for an unofficial last spring and met with Coach Switz and coach Fisch and I really loved the way Switz coaches up his line.

UWDP:How is your relationship with Coach Switzer?

Coach Switz text me a lot and our relationship is really good. Since last year he’s made it a point to let me know I’m an important piece to what they have going on.

UWDP: How does UW envision you fitting in their scheme. A true interior offensive player or a flex player that can play outside if needed?

Coach Switz said he sees me playing up and down the line. He’s seen me snap so he’s excited about that and he can see me being used at tackle too and guard.

UWDP: Besides UW what other schools are you honing your focus on?

Utah, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan UCLA and Arizona are the other schools I’m looking at and I’m going to narrow to probably 3 after my OVs.

UWDP: What are you looking for in a school you ultimately commit to?

I’m looking for a program that will develop me for the next level. Coaches that have good relationships with the players and watches out for them outside of football too and after football. A program that has coaches that actually teach and not just coaches.

UWDP: How would you describe yourself as a player?

I would say that I’m a well rounded player. I’m a thinker out there on the field and I’m also an aggressive player. I play with confidence but I’m also very coachable and love learning new ways to block or new ways to break down a defense.

Mageo hasn’t scheduled any official visits yet, but it’s likely the Huskies will get one (I suspect in late June). Here are some of his highlights:
