Puka Nacua has been on the go since the Los Angeles Rams’ season ended and he’s not slowing down anytime soon. The Rams star is now dipping his toes into coaching.
He’s joining the Overtime OT7 league as a coach, leading a team of top high school players from his home state of Utah. Other coaches in the league include Aaron Donald, Ja’Marr Chase, Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III.
The OT7 league is a 7-on-7 football league that pits some of the top high school recruits against each other during the spring.
Here’s what Nacua told Forbes about his foray into coaching in OT7.
“They have a bunch of kids that have been coming out from the state of Utah, so it felt right when they reached out and asked if I would be a sponsor and help, want to come coach in and show up to some of these tournaments for them,” Nacua told Forbes. "I feel like as an athlete and somebody, that’s the whole point of being able to make it out from your hometown and from your state, and being able to represent the people that helped you, and then be able to give back to the people who are trying to try to get to where you’re at.”
According to Forbes, Oregon’s Dante Moore, Michigan’s Bryce Underwood and Ohio State’s Carnell Tate are some of the most notable players who have participated in the OT7 league, so it can be a pathway to stardom in college.
Nacua is looking forward to competing against Donald, as the two were teammates during the 2023 season when Puka was a rookie.
“I think there’s one thing that Aaron Donald knows about me, and he knows that I love to compete,” Nacua said. “I definitely won’t be trying to get on his bad side. But I'll definitely make sure that our guys are having their best game against him.”
The Overtime OT7 league begins in March, with 2026 being its fifth season in existence.
